Privacy policy

Updated October 10, 2026

The Cell Brief ("we", "us") publishes educational briefs about peptide and cell science at thecellbrief.com. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have.

What we collect

  • Newsletter sign-ups. Your email address, the page you signed up from, the time of sign-up, and basic technical details (IP address, browser type) that we use to prevent abuse.
  • Reading measurement. Privacy-friendly, first-party page-view and session counts. Optional analytics (such as Google Analytics) and marketing signals (such as the Meta pixel) only run after you allow them in the privacy banner.
  • Contact. If you email us, we keep the message so we can reply.
  • Comments and accounts. If comments are enabled and you create an account, we store your email, display name and the comments you post.

How we use it

  • To send the newsletter you asked for, and to measure whether emails are opened and which links are clicked.
  • To understand which briefs are read, so we can write better ones.
  • To keep the site secure and to prevent spam and abuse.

We do not sell personal information. We never share your email address with other companies for their own marketing.

Who helps us run the site

  • Supabase (database and sign-in), Netlify (hosting) and Resend (email delivery) process data on our behalf under their own privacy terms.
  • Google Fonts is loaded from Google's servers, which receive your IP address when the fonts load.
  • Optional analytics and marketing tools only load after you give consent.

Cookies and local storage

We use local storage to remember your privacy choices and a random visitor id for first-party measurement. Optional analytics and marketing tools set their own cookies only after you allow them. You can change your choices at any time with "Privacy choices" in the footer.

Your choices and rights

  • Every email we send has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing takes effect immediately.
  • You can ask to see, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you by emailing hello@thecellbrief.com.
  • Depending on where you live (for example the EU, the UK or California), you may have additional rights, including the right to object to processing and to complain to a supervisory authority. We honour these requests wherever you live.

Data retention

Newsletter data is kept while you are subscribed and for a short period afterwards on a suppression list, so we do not email you again by mistake. Measurement data is aggregated or purged on a rolling basis.

Children

The Cell Brief is written for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16.

Changes

We will post any changes on this page and update the date shown above.
